Assembly of the unit took about 2 hours and my husband was surprised it went together so easily. Its quiet & smooth. For the price it can't be beat. Wish it had an on &off switch vs. having to plug it in all the time. Not a big deal though. Shipping was quick. Just be aware it comes in a trailer truck, so glad we own a tractor with forks otherwise would have been hard to get off the truck and up our long driveway.

So far so good...has lived up to all the Specs listed in the product brochure....time will tell but if it keeps behaving as well as it has for the last 3 weeks I can see why it is one of the most highly rated home use ellipticals in the industry....

The Horizon EX59 Elliptical was delivered within the time specified and the trucking company properly notified me of the delivery date and confirmed. The EX59 Elliptical instructions were clear and I like the way the hardware was packaged by each of the steps in the manual. There was only a couple of issues that a bolt did not treading-in correctly, but as I worked with it and had the right angle it treaded correctly. Overall, the installation took about 3 hours and was easy to follow and perform.
The EX59 Elliptical is quiet and works smoothly. I have used it for about two week with no issues. My son, daughter, and wife have also been using it during this time frame with no issues. It really provides a great workout, quiet, and the real-time display is great.
I would like to see more instructions on the different settings and pre-program options. I would also like to see a workout section for various program options such as weight loss, endurance, toning, etc.
Otherwise, this is a great purchase and so far works great. I would highly recommend it.

I bought this machine aboug 4 months ago and really love it. The speakers are great, as is the fan. It is very quiet and reliable and I get a great workout. The only complaint I have is that I don't like the stride. It feels too short and a bit unnatural. I have noticed the foot pedal seem to be facing down so your toes are blow the heels, causing your feet to slide forward on the pedals. I start feeling the burn in my upper legs within a minute of working out.

Happy with the machine, but disappointed with shipping. Elliptical was held because shipping company had no driver available. Not acceptable! Easy to assemble and very easy to use. Quiet machine.

After doing extensive research - I decided to purchase the Horizon EX59. In this price range - no other elliptical trainer came close to the build quality, stride length, flywheel weight, ease of assembly and positive comments.
Horizon has done a great job of laying out all the washers, bolts and other assembly items on an easy to follow card - that is marked 1 through 8 on the card and on the instructions. I had 3 loose screws at the bottom of the assembly packet and it was easy to see where they went on the card. I had a knee replaced 2 weeks before - and it still only took me (by myself) about 3.5 hours to assemble the elliptical trainer.
Now that it is together, I have used it for about a week. The trainer is whisper quiet and solid. I have noticed that the front resting pad is pulling up from the ground about a quarter inch when I am on it - so I am going to have to figure out what I might have done wrong in the assembly. The only time you notice it is when you get on or off - it bounces just a bit.
If you are looking for an elliptical trainer that has gym a quality feel - the build, the stride, the smooth action - and don't want to spend a fortune - buy the Horizon EX59. You won't be sorry.

When I decided that I wanted an elliptical, I spent a lot of time doing my homework -- read lots of reviews, and based on what I found, I took the plunge. SO glad I did. This baby is solid, heavy, and the workmanship is incredible. Took my husband and I about 2-1/2 hours to assemble. I originally thought that I could do it myself, but it helps to have two brains and hubby's brute strength to tighten down all the screws and bolts. I've used gym ellipticals, so I understand pro quality. This easily equals those. It's smooth and quiet, and you'll recognize it the minute you hop on for the first time. I don't have a single complaint whatsoever. I expected to pay much more for an elliptical, and this is one heck of a bargain. You folks at Horizon should be proud of this product. I think that we'll be using and enjoying this for a very long time.

Ellipitcal arrived withing 5-7 days from being shipped. Once it got here, i Thought it would be difficult to assemble, but I was surprisingly shocked at how Simpe it was. I had read comments saying it could take up to 3 hours and I had it complete it just over an hour by myself. I absolutely how quiet it is, the built in Speakers, and the ease of use. For the Price, its exactly what I wanted. I would definately recommend this as an online purchase! :)

I have only had my EX59 for five days and love it so far. I started reading reviews when I registered my machine. Re: comments on no on/off switch, I use a Christmas tree foot switch extention cord, just leave it plugged in and step on the switch to turn it on/off.

This was by far the best bargain I've seen. Arrived in great condition. A breeze to put together with good instructions, all the parts separated out per step and tools provided. Great programs, good speakers, adequate fan, very quiet operation. Favorite pro: I'm short (5' 2") and found that other elipticles I've tried make me lean forward somewhat causing a strain on the lower back. Not this one! Even my brother who is 5' 8" and has a substaintially pricier machine noticed a difference!!! Only one con and it's seems to be echoed by many others--no power off button on the console!?! For the price I'll deal with it. Best return for your dollar, hands down!

I have had my elliptical for over 7 months and use it three times a week. It is very easy to use and choose what kind of a workout you want to do. I am amazed as how quite it is for such a big piece of equipment. My only con is that do wish it has an on and off switch so it didn't need to be unplugged.

I bought my elliptical 7 months ago and I have used it 3 times a week for most of the 7 months. I had a Nordic Track Ski Machine before and this is sooo much better and very quite. I am able to watch TV without turning up the sound. I didn't think I'd like the fan, but it does a good job.
I have tried all of the programmed workouts and like the 2nd one best. I feel I get a very good workout using this machine. It appears to be very well made and was not to difficult to install after it was delivered. I would recommend this elliptical to anyone. I do agree, I wish it had an on and off switch, but that's my only con.

I did some reading and research about these machines in the internet. The reviews on this one were pretty good.
I've had my ex-59 for 3 weeks now. I use it everyday and like it.
I did have one part not meet up to expectations and one quick phone call and the part was on it's way - good warranty and customer service.
I'm over six feet tall and almost wish the stide was a little longer, but, honestly, the only thing holding my back from a 'better' or 'longer' workout is only my motivation and drive. The machine will do everything for you that you want it too.
It is smooth, quite and very, very easy to put together.
my wife and kids like it too.
I recommend this product for anyone considering an eliptical machine.

easy to assemble. like the way the parts are separated into individual steps instead of one big bag of screws! inside delivery was a big plus for me. so far like using it, sometimes has some noise and squeaks only 2 weeks old. good stride length.

After months of searching I decided based on numerous reviews to purchase the EX 59. This machine is super quiet and is solid. Instructions, packaging and delivery was impressive - no issues at all. Used every day by several family members. Would definitely recomend this machine to anyone. Better quality and pricing than those sold in the big box sport stores.

The machine is a great buy, sturdy and well made (some small issues with putting it together where washers and bolts have a tough time lining up just because of the way the machine needs to be put together). I'm about 220 lbs and it has no problem with my size during long workouts. I'd recommend this to folks who want a good 'gym like' workout at home.

I was an avid elliptical user at the gym until I had my son. It has been difficult to get to the gym so I bought an elliptical for home. I am thrilled with the purchase. The stride is smooth, it is great to have the speakers so I can hook up my shuffle and the fan is awesome. I only wish it had a cool down cycle. I would definitely recommend and would purchase again.

Very easy to assemble and am so hooked. I'm short 5'4" and my husband is 6' the stride length is good for both of us. I have bad knees and am on it 30 min everyday without any pain or stress on my joints. I'm very happy with it and am so happy to be happy to have the feeling of running again.

I'm really pleased with everything about this elliptical so far. I've had it set up and have been using it for about two weeks now. The assembly was really straight forward. My husband and I had it set up in about an hour. It's sturdy- it doesn't wobble all over when using it. For the price, I think this was a fantastic and wise purchase, and I would definitely recommend this machine to someone else.

The installation was going smooth until I got to the Lower Handlebar connected to Lower Link Arm. It was so tight I couldn't get it to line up without displacing the washers. I had to use heavy tools to get it to losing up. After 30 min, I finally got it line up so I can push the bolt through. Got this machine last month been working good so far. Although, I haven't got that many hours into it. I need to stick to my workout schedule that's the hard part.

To start, the assembly directions were the best I' ve ever encountered. Nuts and bolts packaged in a way that it's guaranteed to all be there.
Love the machine, parts all glide smoothly and quietly. The fan is a great feature.
My boyfriend had never tried an elliptical, he's so impressed now he wants to order one!

This was by far the easiest thing to set up, the way they did the instructions was really a good idea! I have this a 4 star because I haven't had it longer then a month yet, it's a great lil elliptical !! Make me sweat and burn just what I need. I can't wait to see how I'll feel in a few more months of running !!

I selected the EX59 after researching CU report and on-line user ratings for similar ellipticals from other brands. The Horizon EX59 came out way ahead, and from my experience so far, well deserved. Assembly is super easy and well documented, No missing parts, well packaged, and everything fit together perfectly. My daugher is primary user, and she loves it.
Only improvements I'd like to see are a power switch and adding the overhead requirements to the user manual.

Solid, quality machine for the price. Have been using it steadily now for 4 weeks. Great home elliptical.
Rating:
Arrived quickly with good service by the freight company. Unpacked and assembled without much difficulty, good instructions and great packaging of the small parts. The display has a problem with a couple of the letters but doesn't affect the use so not worth getting a replacement at this point.
Suggestions for improvement would be a built-in on/off switch so that one wouldn't have to plug in and un plug just to turn on and off. Also, the user's manual could be better written, especially with regard to the programs built in the unit. Would be a 5 Star with those additions.
At this point only have about 25 miles on it, so can't speak to ruggedness or longevity, but hoping for the best. Really like the elliptical motion and smoothness, best in this price range that we've tried.

I have only had this 2 weeks but the quality seems really good. It took about 2 hours to assemble with no problems. Its operation is really smooth, almost as good as the ones at the gym. This definately a bargain and I would recommend it to anyone.

Just received elliptical less than one week ago, so this is a unique time for the company to solicit reviews. The equipment seems very solid and durable, at least in the little time I've had with it. Pretty basic with not very much user workout feedback, info or graphics. This guy assembled like a dream - little time needed, only one person. I have little positive to say about the shipping company - very rude, insistent and inflexible, and I was just fortunate to get someone to meet them at my house around lunchtime on a Monday for delivery. Had someone not been there upon their arrival, I would've been out another $75 for redelivery, and there were never any fulfilled promises other than to just drop off a 250 # box in my driveway. Big, BIG negative, there; however, that was likely just for local (Phoenix) area. I will actually escalate that to Horizon mgmt, and I've wasted enough space/time here with it. Summing up -- in a very, very short time, I'd have to say I'm quite impressed with the equipment, if just in a very basic elemental perspective.

We are still ramping up our workout. It's not as easy as it looks, but the elliptical will give us the workout we are looking for. Easy to put together.

Elliptical gives quite a workout. The machine is solidly built and performs great. I was able to put the machine together myself and was pleasantly surprised with the directions, the parts bagged separately and clearly labeled, and having the tools to do the job. I read many reviews before making this decision and highly recommend this purchase!

overall, am very pleased with product. super easy to put together. it is easy to manuver around my small office if i need to. doesn't take up too much space. levels are sufficient. was thinking only 10 levels might not be that good, but level 10 kicks my butt, and i am in pretty good shape. speakers don't seem to work, but i really don't care about that. and when i place my heals on the outer edges of the foot pad the machine makes a very annoying knocking sound. if my feet are in the center of the foot pad ....as smooth as silk. forces me to have perfect form (i tend to walk like a duck, so want to workout the same way).
also, i might just need to tighten some screws....overall, good product for the price and would buy again.

I'm glad I kept reading reviews and doing my homework, because this machine is great! The parts feel solid and heavy duty and it's quiet in motion. The directions were laid out very well, the tools were included, and I appreciate that all the parts were separately packaged for each step for ease in assembly. I've been using the Horizon Elliptical for 2 weeks, but I can tell you that it gives one heck of a workout, which I feel is even better than what a treadmill can do. I'd recommend this to anyone!

This is a high quality workout machine at an affordable price. Shipping was included and I was surprised by how quickly the machine arrived. It is very nice to see you included everything I needed to setup the machine and didn't skimp out on tools, packaging and instructions. My wife and I are both using the machine 3-4 times a week. We love how quiet it is and I enjoy listening to audibooks and she listens to music using the included cord to plug right into our cell phones. Definitely would buy again.

So far, I'm very happy with this Elliptical. I've wanted a good one for so long and I didn't want to settle for the cheap ones that feel unstable and shaky. I saw this model on sale and the reviews were all good. It's very sturdy and doesn't feel wobbly at all. I almost feel like i'm on one of the health club models. So Pros. As I said, this model feels very Stable, it's quiet, has great holders for water, phone & ipod. There is also speakers or a headphone jack that you can use. The fan is a nice bonus and that too is pretty quiet. cons. there's no on off switch. you have to plug it in and unplug it. it also makes a loud beeping sound when turned on; annoying, but It definitely wouldn't stop me from buying it. This is a great machine. (so far;0) .

Easy to assemble. Smooth and quiet - so far.
I get a much better workout on this than the old nordic track ski machine it replaces.
Comfortable to use (except for the sweating).
Speakers are tinny, you'll want to use your earbuds.
I'm careful about pulling on the handles. I have to lean in a bit or the machine rocks.
We are small people less than 175 pounds and it work great for us.

I really enjoy my new elliptical. The only problem is it makes a noise when I increase the resistance levels. Is this normal?
Rating:
Overall I am very pleased with this machine. Other reviews are correct in terms of all the great features, so far my only complaints are that the ledge is way too small to be of use, and the programs aren't really all that helpful. The ledge is very narrow and while my ipad 2 does technically fit on there, there isn't a lip or grippers so there's no way in can be used for that.
As far as the programs go I think the rolling one is slightly misleading. My husband tried using it and says it ramps up like a hill, but then goes right back down to the bottom so it's more like how they describe the interval program than actual hills. And for the interval program I was expecting it to be several minutes high, then the same amount of time low like it is at the gym, and instead it ramps up and up, then falls back down to easy.
Overall we're very pleased though and would recommend the product to anyone. It's a tough work-out while being very smooth and virtually silent. Good purchase.

This is an excellent machine. I love the fan feature to keep you cool. The manual does not do a good job at describing the controls. It took only 1 1/2 hrs to put together. It does need an On/OFF switch. It is easy to get on and off. The display has all the data you need. I am glad I bought it.

Great machine for the price- It was delivered within a week and the assembly took two of us less than 2 hours with only a couple of minor problems that were easily resolved. The company had a special to include an extra year extended warranty which brings the total parts and labor warranty to two years at no extra cost. This was amazing as most of the competition only offers a 90 day parts and labor warranty. The operation of the machine is incredibly smooth and stable. I am 6'3 and 275 lbs and the machine only has a slight wobble when I am on it and doesnt wobble at all for my 5'7 daughter. The stride length is perfect for my daughter but a little short for me, but I have not seen any other machines for this price with a longer stride length and it's not that big a deal as I am getting used to it. I also like the extra's such as the built in MP3 player and fan. I will have to wait and see how reliable it is, but I am very pleased so far.

Heavy duty construction. Not a whimpy piece of eq. Took about two hours to put together. The fan is is great. Speakers are surprisingly loud and good. Calorie counter and interval programs are great as is the heart rate monitor, although the HRM takes a minute to adjust to your signal. Smooth Smooth Smooth motion. This piece should cost $1500.

The most important thing, okay the two most important things, where that the machine be quiet and that I not hurt myself (because it seems like when I exercise I end up with an injury).
Very quiet, and the motion is so smooth! I started slow and now I've picked up minutes and I'm pushing harder and it just feels good.
The machine is developing a few barely perceptible noises (not really noises, just sort of subtle knocks I can almost feel through the handles-my husband can't feel them). But all the reviews I read when I was researching on which machine to buy say that you can adjust the little sounds out by tightening or loosening screws, so I'm not worried.
Really pleased. The size is right and the machine feels very solid.

Great elliptical for the price. Went together in less than 2 hours, and is well constructed. Works great in my basement on foam padding.

Need to add an on/off switch and be able to save preferences otherwise this is a good product, adding those 2 things would make this a 5 star mid-range model.

Picked this because the customer reviews on Amazon were better than those on the Schwinn (even tho the Schwinn had reportedly been touted by a consumer mag) and because of the ergonomic features and the promise of quiet operation. Took my husband and I 2-3 hours at most to put together (including 20 minutes trying to fish out some washers and bolts from where they got dropped into the fly wheel housing - not fun; ended up having to remove the little door). Plugged it in and tried it out. Very quiet, though not absolutely quiet. Just a slight whooshing; definitely no clicks or squeaks. We only used the grease enclosed, but did reapply the extra grease left in the little bags that covered the parts. The flywheel housing was bigger than I expected, somehow, but the overall length and width was equal to or less than the specs (good thing, because our space is limited).
I'm very hopeful that all will go well and that I won't hurt myself somehow. Decided to go with the EX59 in part because I'm 5'3'' and thought the 18 inch stride would be more natural.
I'm excited! It's an attractive machine...

This my wife and my first purchase when over 40 put us over 40!! Lol We have had no trouble from putting the unit together to exercising. Yes it does have to be plugged in to turn on and unplugged to turn off. This shouldn't be a deal breaker after all you are exercising anyway so just count that as part of it. The unit is smooth and easy to change levels of resistance so well worth the on/off switch or lack of. Exercise is still not fun in my view but with this machine it's doable and you can't get shut down for weather. So no excuse!!! Get this and get healthy. Good luck all.

Absolutely worth every cent!
Got this machine 2 months ago and so far I’m satisfied with the purchase.
I had painstakingly researched various elliptical machines, detailing the pros and cons of each one. This machine came out on top compared with all other machines.
PROS: Assembly! This item was very very easy to put together. This was very surprising! It took about 3 hours only because we did it rather slowly and took a lot of breaks. The parts were very well labeled and OILED!!! The manual was also very detailed…you can’t ask for more, right? (CON: It didn’t describe how to plug the item, but that was easy to figure. Also its better to unplug the item after use as it doesn’t have an ON/OFF button).
PROS: SILENT, easy glide. I was pleasantly surprised at the smoothness of this machine. Absolutely no clunky grinding sounds. It moves smoothly and effortlessly. It is solidly built with heavy duty materials so it doesn’t feel like it would fall apart on you.
Other PROS: It has a fan that isn’t noisy, an mp3 player hook up with speakers, work out plans, a heart rate monitor, resistance levels, calories burned etc.
So far, its perfect for daily use (approx 45 mins – 1 hour)
CONS: the EX-59 is quite long at 73”. It doesn’t fold away or stow away. It takes a lot of space. I was aware of this and had to make space for it.
Additionally I wish the display were more advanced. I’m getting used to its simplicity; but frankly it gives all the information needed.
OVERALL, this machine has been PERFECT so far and worth EVERY LAST CENT! I already recommended it to a friend that went ahead to buy it.
Look no further, go ahead, its worth it.

This machine came just as described. I'm 6'5" tall and at the time I started using the EX59 I weighed in at 270 lbs. I started out using a friends rear wheel elliptical but it's pedals were 5" apart and it made my knees hurt. with the EX59's 0 gap, I don't have that problem anymore. I gave the EX59 a 4 star instead of 5 because I think the weight limit should be 250 lbs instead of 275lbs. This elliptical is an ideal buy for someone who is determined to lose weight. 16 levels of resistance and smooth operation make the EX59 a pleasure to use everyday.

I've been a long-time step aerobic fan until knee pains became prohibitive. I have a rowing machine but it doesn't give me much of an aerobic workout. I had never even used an elliptical but wanted something for home; I've had regular treadmills - hate running, hate the high impact. I did tons of research and narrowed it to Horizon or Live Strong; the model I got was not over the top, in case I didn't like it. But boy do I!
My only complaint/suggestion, is that it doesn't seem perfectly sized for me, a 5'2" woman, in that the arms are a little too far forward for me to put my feet in the back parts of the foot pads.

Bought this machine based on videos and user reviews and I have to say it has been awesome! My wife uses it daily (and I will start soon wink wink). She absolutely loves it.
Construction is fairly simple if you follow instructions well. The Horizon machine is sturdier and smoother than other more expensive brands. Get this one!
Rating:
I like the machine and use it an average of 3 times per week in conjunction with my Nordictrack. The low impact is just right for me because of neck and back issues caused by too many years of high impact running.
One thing I would change is the ease of programming the controls. I have it set at one level and find it difficult to change that setting.
I would recommend the machine to anyone who wants a low impact workout.

Overall, I think this is a good elliptical but as a previous reviewer noted, it doesn't have an off switch. We use a surge protector as the switch.

This machine is the best elliptical that I have ever used. I purchased a Pro-form 2 years ago and the motor never worked right. This machine is as good as the ones in the gyms that cost much more.

Very happy with the EX59. Appears to be a well made quality product. The previous reviews are accurate, an on-off switch would be nice. Control panel functions do have to be reset, but I didn't have trouble walking through the programing...simple enough. It is a heavy machine. However, that is due to the sturdy construction...I am impressed with the smooth functionality and quality. It was recommended to me and I have already passed on that great advice. I would buy it again, hands down for the price.

In the beginning I loved the product, no noise and very sturdy. After a few months of use it started making loud noises, we did the suggested things to try and fix it and it didn't work. Now I have spent all this money on a piece of equpiment that I don't want to use because it is so loud and it makes me angry to hear the noise.

This is a good product but it doesn't have an off switch. It has to be unplugged everytime. Also there is no way to plug in preferences for everyday use. You have to plug them in everytime and that is a bit annoying. The product works and is good but it is a bit less than user friendly

I love all the extras on this machine, such as the fan and speakers. Makes working out much more enjoyable. It's a very smooth gliding motion and love the fact I can keep my arms stationary or move them with the handles. This is one machine that makes working out a treat. It's very well put together.

While the display is not as complete or exciting as some others, it has all of the data you need. It's a solid machine that is made to be used daily. It's a heavy brute and had to take it down to the family room in sections and assemble it there, but it was not a big deal. It's easier than moving the assembled unit up and down stairs.
It is good for both my wife, 5' tall and me, 6'. The stride length is good for both of us.
The best way to put it is that I would buy it again.
